El cantante estadounidense contó en su nuevo álbum “Bigger Love”, que se lanzará este viernes 19 de junio, con algunos de los productores y compositores más importantes de la industria de la música, como Ryan Tedder -de “OneRepubic”- o Ester Dean -responsable de hits de Rihanna o Katy Perry-.

Además de Tedder y Dean, Legend, uno de los contados artistas que ha ganado un Oscar, un Grammy, un Emmy y un Tony, ha colaborado para su séptimo álbum de estudio con Charlie Puth, que produjo y coescribió la mezcla de funk y soul “I Do”.

Puth, de tan solo 28 años, ya ha trabajado en otras canciones con Maroon 5, Katy Perry, CeeLo Green, 5 Seconds of Summer y Michael Bubblé. Legend también trabajó en “Bigger Love” con el reverenciado músico Raphael Saadiq, con quien ya colaboró en su reciente álbum navideño, y que en esta ocasión no solo ha supervisado la producción de este nuevo elepé, sino que ha tocado la guitarra y el bajo en varias de las canciones y ha coproducido dos de ellas.

Saadiq, que llegó a la fama como miembro del trío de R&B “Tony! Toni! Toné!”, también ha compuesto durante su carrera canciones para Solange, Mary J. Blige, o Eryka Badu. La joven Tayla Parx, de 26 años, ya coescribió los hits “Thank U, Next” y “7 Rings” de Ariana Grande o el “high Hopes” de “Panic! at the Disco”, y en esta ocasión es la responsable de la canción de soul “I’m Ready” del nuevo disco de Legend.

Mientras, Teddy Geiger creó la canción “Focused” de “Bigger Love” con Wayne Hector, Nate Mercereau y Ricky Reed, después de haberse hecho conocido por haber ideado varios de los éxitos de Shawn Mendes, como “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”, “Mercy”, “Stitches” o “In My Blood”, con la que se ganó su primera nominación a un Grammy a la canción del año en 2019.

”Bigger Love” también cuenta con Anderson .Paak, que ha trabajado con artistas del mundo del rap de la talla de Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dog, Pusha T. o J. Cole, y Julia Michaels, una cantante y compositora de 26 años que ha colaborado con Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani y Shawn Mendes.

I’m so excited to introduce my new album #BiggerLove to the world. Here’s the album cover painted by brilliant artist @charlylpalmer. Swipe for the track list, including my amazing featured guests. This project has been a labor of love for me, something I’ve spent over a year conceiving and creating. I poured my heart and soul into these songs and collaborated with some incredibly gifted co-writers, producers and musicians. The songs are inspired by the loves of my life: my wife, my family and the rich tradition of black music that has made me the artist I am. All of these songs were created prior to the world being rocked by a pandemic, prior to the latest police killings in the U.S. that sent so many to the streets in protest. During these painful times, some of us may wonder if it’s ok to laugh or dance or be romantic. Lately, the images of black people in the media have been showing us with knees on our necks, in mourning, or expressing our collective outrage. We feel all those emotions. But It’s important for us to continue to show the world the fullness of what it is to be black and human. Through our art, we are able to do that. This album is a celebration of love, joy, sensuality, hope, and resilience, the things that make our culture so beautiful and influential. I’m under no illusion that music can save the world or solve the world’s problems, but I’ve always turned to music to help me through tough times and I know many of you have done the same. That’s why I couldn’t wait to release this album to the world. I debuted in 2004 with an album called Get Lifted. And now, as we enter the summer of 2020, I hope this new album can get you lifted again, fill your hearts with love and inspiration, give you something to dance to, something to hold hands to, something to make love to.
